Spotlight on Nancy Clarke

Meet Your Old South Neighbour—Nancy Clarke!

For those who don't know the owner of Acme Animal, allow us to share a recent article written about Nancy Clarke in the Wortley Villager. The Wortley Villager fashions itself the local Old South London community magazine, but it goes beyond that simple description. They promote local artists, businesses, community events and organizations, as well as local history and culture, all while supporting local journalism.

"Our magazines serve as a source of information for local residents, providing updates on community events and issues, as well as information on local resources and services... It provides a sense of community ownership and pride by highlighting the contributions of local residents and organizations."

When our social media manager, Katherine Krige, found a copy of the Wortley Villager in a local store in Wortley Village, she immediately knew that she needed to write a spotlight on Nancy within its pages. A few emails later, and Katherine snapped a selection of photos of Nancy hard at work, plus interviewed her to capture what it means to Nancy to call Wortley Village home.

“I love that I can walk around the neighbourhood and admire all the old houses and gardens,” she shares.

The result was a lovely feature in the September edition of the Wortley Villager that Nancy was pleased to read. And to add to the article, she truly does love living in Old South and cherishes all the connections she has made while living here.

You'll have to click through to read more of the article yourself! Find it on page 9.

We would be remiss if we didn't also mention that Katherine had a small spotlight herself. As we've shared, she has published a few books, and you'll find mention of them on the last page of the magazine (you can purchase copies of them at local business Tuckey Home Hardware!).

Another great example of supporting small, local businesses. Because sometimes big impacts come in the best small packages.
